Chautauqua County, New York Warrant Search

In Chautauqua County, warrants are issued by judges at any level, including town and village courts, and executed by the requesting law enforcement agency.

Usually, the issuer has jurisdiction over the underlying matter and signs the application or affidavit, which must show probable cause to search a property or arrest someone.

While warrants are active, they are generally protected from public disclosure, per N.Y. Pub. Off. Law § 87(2)(e), which is part of New York's Freedom of Information Law (FOIL). The Sheriff's Office can legally deny access on grounds that disclosure risks tipping off a suspect or interfering with an ongoing investigation.

However, once law enforcement executes the warrant or returns it to the issuing court, it becomes part of the public record. The Chautauqua County Sheriff's Office also makes certain unserved warrants public through its Wanted Persons page.

The table below provides additional resources for verifying an active warrant or reviewing historical warrant information.
